Is generating a password here safe?
Yes. The password is created right in your browser with a cryptographically secure generator (crypto.getRandomValues) and is never sent anywhere. We do not see or store it.
How long should my password be?
For everyday accounts use at least 16 characters, for important ones (e-mail, bank, password manager) prefer 20 or more. Length matters more than complexity.
How do I remember such a random password?
You do not have to. Use a password manager that stores them for you, so you only remember one strong master password. You can also share a generated password securely through our encrypted clipboard.
What do strength and time to crack mean?
Strength is based on entropy (bits of randomness). The more bits, the more attempts an attacker would need. The time is an estimate for a fast offline attack and is meant as a rough guide.
Can I use one password on multiple sites?
No, every service should have its own password. When a password leaks from one site, attackers immediately try it elsewhere. With a generator and a password manager, unique passwords cost you nothing.
Is a strong password enough, or do I need two-factor authentication too?
Even the strongest password is just one layer of protection. Turn on two-factor authentication wherever you can: even if the password leaks, an attacker cannot sign in without the second step.
